Customer Background

This German customer is a European Tier 1 automotive-parts supplier headquartered in Stuttgart. It supplies EV electric-drive systems and battery-pack components to OEMs including BMW and Volkswagen, with strict requirements for technical capability, quality control, and production capacity.

Purpose of Visit

The customer needed ultrasonic welding equipment for a battery-pack busbar project and required a supplier with mass-production capability and IATF 16949 certification. After technical comparison, our company was shortlisted and scheduled for an on-site audit.

On-Site Inspection

The quality engineer and procurement manager completed a two-day inspection covering the quality-management system, production line, laboratory welding capability, and project records.

Technical Verification

Eight-layer copper busbars with a total thickness of 6 mm were used for welding tests on the YN-X203-Y 3000W equipment. Results showed a weld bonding rate of at least 95%, post-weld resistance of no more than 5 μΩ, and shear force exceeding the customer specification by more than 120%.

Collaboration Outcome

After passing the audit, the customer added our company to its qualified-supplier list. The initial order covered four customized high-power welding units for its Bavarian production line. Remote technical support and process solutions were also provided for its factory in Mexico.
